Abstract

Lift valves.-A stop valve of the type having a lift valve provided with a balance piston under the control of a pilot valve mounted on the main actuating - spindle is fitted with a spring between the main and pilot valves to prevent the main valve from chattering on its seat. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the valve member A is rigidly secured to the balance piston D, which is provided with a port T leading to the inlet side of the main valve and with a port P leading to a cavity formed in the piston. The outlet port P<1> from this cavity is controlled by the pilot valve L, which is loosely mounted on the main screwed spindle H. The main valve is lifted by a collar 0 which is adjustably secured to the spindle H and serves to adjust the compression of the spring S. In a modification, the main spindle is actuated by a lever, and the pilot valve is arranged to seat on the cover of the cylinder in which the balance piston works.
