Abstract

20,036. Reader, C. L. de W. Sept. 4. Surface treatment with liquid or semi-liquid materials.-Consists in providing apparatus for spraying viscous materials such as tar, molasses, and heavy oils with an arrangement for heating the liquid, comprising steam - pipes c<2>, c<3> passing through straight lengths of tubing h<2>, h<3>, forming the liquidconduit. The tank a containing the liquid may be heated by steam flowing through the coil b, the passing of steam being controlled by cocks d, e, so that it may pass through the pipes c<2>, c<3> or through the pipe f to a steam-trap, or to other uses. The liquid is led from the tank a through straight lengths of pipe h, h<1>, h<2>, h<3>, h<4>, to an injector or atomizer g, to where steam or compressed air may also be led. At the ends of the sections h<2>, h<3>, glands k through which the steam-pipe passes are provided in order to allow for the expansion of this pipe. The liquid may be sprayed on to a flat sheet s of the kind described in Specification 19,952/13, [Class 69 (iii), Spray-producers &c.]. Cleaning- plugs l are provided in certain sections.
