Abstract

17,925. Krupp Akt.-Ges., F. Sept. 18, 1912, [Convention date]. Couplings.-An electrode is secured to a watercooled metallic head which supplies current to the electrode by means of a threaded boss b<1> on the head screwing loosely into a hole in the electrode A, the residual space in the hole being filled with Wood's or other easily fusible metal, maintained in the solid state by the cooling. If electric contact is imperfect at any point. the resultant sparking melts the metal and contact is restored. To allow the electrode to be detached, the cooling is stopped, whereupon the fusible metal melts and the parts may be unscrewed.
