Abstract
6029. Hawes, A. B., Wheeler, J., and French &. Son, T. March 11. Fastenings for bags.-A safety device is provided on the closing-flap of an attachÚ case &c. to prevent the bag from opening when it is being carried. In one form, a fixed hook A is mounted on the closing-flap and is adapted to be engaged by the handle ring 3 when the handle is raised. In another form, a double hook B is pivoted to the flap and has the limited movement allowed by stops 11, which engage the edge of the flap. In this form, whichever way the handle falls when released the hook is automatically engaged by the ring 3 when the bag is lifted.
