Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and metal springs other than helical and volute sprinys; spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and rubber-ring and like cushions.-Wheels of the kind in which there are resilient spokes are characterized by a spoked annular member adapted to allow limited radial and transverse movement of the rim. In the form shown, two series of oppositely-arranged curved blade spring spokes 4, Fig. 5, fit at their outer ends between blocks of rubber 17, Fig. 2, arranged in channels formed on the rim by central and lateral flanges 16, 13. The blocks are held in channel-shaped metal holders 22 secured by radial bolts, some of which 26 pass through the spoke ends. The inner ends of the spokes fit in radial grooves 3, Fig. 6, in the hub, and have lateral notches 11 in which fits an annular flange 8 on a plate 7. The plates are secured by transverse bolts which also pass through the ends of rigid spokes 40 fixed to a rim 42 adapted to abut against the flange 16 under excessive shock; further, the rim 42 resists lateral displacement by engaging either of the coned flanges 23 connecting the channels 22. A single series only of elastic spokes may be used.
