13,280. Hartmann, H. June 5. Block tyres. - Spherical or other blocks of rubber are recessed to receive metal or other fastening - devices having enlarged ends which they grip very firmly. Above the fastening is an air space open to the atmosphere through a passage 10. The fastening is bent so that the centre-line of the outer part is normal to the ground as the block makes contact during forward running. Each block rests on a rubber pad 11 and a rubber washer 12 is placed under the securing-nut.
