Non-metallic elastic bodies and cores. - In order to prevent cracking of a solid tyre E, Fig.l, at the rim, strips D of canvas are secured to the hard rubber or ebonite band C at the base of the tyre, and wrapped against the sides of the tyre. The strips D may be coated with rubber and applied to the sides of the tyre before vulcanization. In a modified form shown in Fig. 2, the canvas is anchored in small grooves F in the edge of the rim A by fillings of rubber. In a further modification shown in Fig. 3, the canvas is anchored in grooves G on the periphery of the rim A.
