28,248. Bentall, E. E., and Bingham, G. C. Dec. 15. Machine cutters, sharpening in situ.-A chaffcutter or like machine is provided with means for sharpening the knives in situ and while stationary. When the knives are to be sharpened, the fly-wheel is disconnected from the driving-apparatus and an abrasive tool l, which is mounted to be mechanically rotated or reciprocated in the end of an arm h, is swung across the edge of the knife a by moving the arm h about its pivot c. The sharpening-apparatus may be used for more than one knife, or separate apparatus may be mounted for each knife.
