Track apparatus actuating signals on trains and for stopping trains; audible signals.-A bell on the engine is operated at a caution signal and, in addition, a brake valve is opened at a stop signal at danger by means of an arm connected by a chain to the signal arm engaging a lever on the locomotive. The lever p when depressed against the action of the springs r*, q releases the cord t to allow a spring v to lower a lever u carrying a block w provided with a pivoted bell-hammer x part of which is struck by an arm 1 on the axles of the track wheel of the locomotive. The apparatus is reset if necessary by the hand-lever 5. Similar connexions from the lever p' to a second lever u connected to a brake valve set the brakes at a stop signal.
