Abstract
1385. Grierson, T. B. Jan. 19. Linear-dimension gauges for use in measuring the rails of railways &c. in situ, so as to ascertain the amount of wear and the resulting weights of the rails, consist of a frame B, B hinged at C, and adapted to fit closely beneath the head of the rail, and one or more sliding gauging-members D. The member D is inscribed with a scale which gives directly the amount of wear and the resulting weights of the rails of a particular standard cross-section.
