Abstract

8433. Campbell, R. H. April 7. Storing under pressure. - Perforable closing-washers for capsules or "sparklet" containers for compressed or liquefied gases are constructed so that the container may be readily charged while the washer is in position, and an air-tight closure then effected by pinching the washer between the neck of the container and a member which is screwed into or on to the neck. The perforable washer 4 is provided with holes 15 in its peripheral flange through which the fluid enters the container. When the member 6 is screwed down on the neck, the washer is pinched between shoulders 2, 7 as shown in Fig. 3. A bearing-ring 9 is preferably interposed between the washer and shoulder 7. A modification is described in which the member 6 screws into the neck. Fig. 11 shows another form of washer which is stamped so as to form projections between which the fluid is delivered to the container. The projections are flattened out when the washer is pinched between the neck and the member 6.
