Abstract

4773. Buckman, B. J., and Buckman, R. S., [trading as Buckman Bros.]. Feb. 25. Cooling motors, air blast for. -A fan for cooling the cylinders of an automobile engine is mounted on a rigid tube which encloses a flexible shaft for driving the fan. The tube d supports the fan b and is itself held by a clamp f on the frame of the engine. The shaft c, which is preferably of the kind described in Specification 626/08, [Class 126, Stoves &c.], is provided with bearings e and passes through the tube d, and through a bulb u and a tube m, which is hinged to the clamp f and is drawn by a spring v towards the driving-disk s. The end of the shaft c is fixed to a friction disk r with a sleeve n running on ball bearings on the tube m.
