26,491. Rockstrohm, M. Nov. 15. Inking-apparatus.- The quantity of ink transferred from the ductor roll to the messenger roll is varied by altering the arc of contact between them. The messenger roll c is operated by the cam-operated spring- controlled lever a that carries the pawl engaging the ratchetwheel d for turning the fountain roll. One of the arms carrying the roll c has lugs supporting an adjustable stop h, and a spring b by which normally the projection g on the arm a is pressed against the stop h. When the swing of the roller c is arrested by contact with the fountain roll, the spring b is compressed during the further movement of the lever a. The position of the stop h determines the duration of contact between the fountain and messenger rolls, and thus the amount of ink supplied.
