Rigid-jaw wrenches.- Relates to wrenches of the type wherein a number of wrench blades are superposed and connected together so as to be slidable longitudinally, the blades not in use serving as a handle to the one in use, and giving increased leverage. The blades a, b, c, d, provided with suitable nut-openings at their ends and slots g along their centres, are connected together by a bolt e<2> having a square shank e<1> to permit sliding motion only. The end e<2> of the bolt is threaded and provided with a wing-nut f, so that anyone of the blades may be extended to, and clamped in, the operative position, and the blades may be separated in the event of one becoming damaged or bent. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the square bolt is dispensed with, and a sleeve h envelops the stems of the wrench blades for part of their length, which sleeve is made by bending a suitable blank having semicircular openings adapted to form a circular recess h<2> for a washer i<1>. The diameter of the recess h' may be only slightly greater than that of the stud i, in which case the thumb-nut bears directly against the sleeve.
