Abstract

Roller mills.-Multiple granite or other roller mills for grinding paint, white lead, and other pigments, are driven so that the rollers may be adjusted as they wear, without changing the driving-gear. The spur-wheels k, q on the shafts d,f of the adjustable rollers a, c, are geared to the corresponding driving-pinions l, r through intermediate wheels n, s, t, which are mounted at the ends of arms or quadrants o, u adjustable round the axis of the driving-pinion spindle m. The spur-wheel w on the shaft e of the fixed roll b is driven direct from the pinion r. The pin x of each intermediate gear may project into a curved slot in the mill framing, and may be provided with a screw adjustment z. In a modification, the end of each arm or quadrant is connected by a link to the bearing carrying the corresponding movable roller, so as to position the intermediate gears correctly at each adjustment of the movable rollers.
