Abstract

1954. Martin, T. Jan. 29, 1908, [Convention date]. Breech actions, sliding breech-block barrels. -Consists in the means for securing the barrel of an automatic pistol of the type having a fixed barrel and a recoiling breech-block. A longitudinal dovetail rib 3, Fig. 6, on the barrel 1 engages a dovetail groove in the breech-frame 4 and is locked in position by a pivoted key 7. To disassemble the parts, the key is turned outwards and the barrel pressed forwards until it is clear of the groove. fhe barrel 1 and breech-block 5, Fig. 7, can then be removed from the frame and separated from one another. The breech-block is formed with two forwardly-extending side arms 11 joined at the front by a cross-piece which forms the abutment of the recoil spring and which slides in the space between the barre@ and the frame. The Specification in the original form, as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a), comprises also trigger and safety mechanism ; the trigger carries a spring pawl which presses on the sear-actuating link ; a single spring serves to keep both the pawl and the trigger in their normal position; the sear has a backward projection which engages a notch in a safety lever pivoted at the back of the grip ; a single spring controls the sear, the safety lever, and the magazine catch. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
