Worm gearing.-The worm 52 is splined on its shaft and is kept in mesh with its worm-wheel 53 by a spring 67 so that, by means of a hand-wheel 50, the worm can be positively rotated in one direction while, when the worm-wheel is rotated in the other direction by the growth of the cop of the spinning-machine, of which this mechanism forms a part, the spring yields and the worm slides away from the worm-wheel.
