Variable-speed gearing.-Relates to means for locking together the parts of an epicyclic variablespeed gear for effecting a solid drive, and comprises a spring pawl adapted to engage the teeth of a sun element. The gear is applicable to motorvehicles. The pawl o, which is pivoted upon the planet-pinion carrier b, is thrust by a spring to engage the teeth of the sun-wheel d. The pawl o is controlled by a crank p, which is rotated through the agency of a cam q adapted to be struck by tappets r.
