Abstract

9900. Gifford, S. D. May 1, 1905, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Dolls. - Dolls are provided with mechanism which causes the eyes and eyelids to simulate natural movements. The eyes 3 are mounted in sockets 2, and are caused to roll in various directions by the movement of a weight 7 connected to a rod 5 by means of a bar 6, the rod 5 being pivoted to projections 4 fixed to the eyes. The eyelids 9 are attached to a bar 10 on a lever 11 pivoted to a standard 13 secured to the interior of the head. The lever 11 is attached to a weight 14, so that, when the doll is moved, the lever 11 causes the eyelids to move in the arc of a circle which is of greater radius than the circle through which the eyes move. The movements of the weights 7, 14 are limited by stops 15, 16 respectively.
