Abstract
13,457. Bonafede, C. June 29. Stoppers.-Relates to improvements in the type of stopper described in Specification No. 3187, A.D. 1873. The lid a is retained on a rubber disk e on the bottle neck by a bent wire c, Figs. 1 and 2, which is passed through grooves formed in the lid and neck respectively. The ends of the wire c are connected by a thin wire and a lead seal h. In a modification, the rubber disk may be dispensed with and two straight pieces of wire may be used. The lid may be adapted to fit in the neck, and the wire may be passed through holes in the neck ; or, the wire may be passed under a flange at the upper end of the neck and through holes iu the lid. Tubes may be soldered into the neck, through which the wire may be passed. In the form of the invention shown in Fig. 14, a lid m is held on the bottle neck by a cap a secured by a wire c as described above. A spring k is placed between the lid and the cap, and a groove n in the cap lifts the lid m as the cap a is removed.
