Abstract

Screw unions ; swivelling joints.-A flexible coupling, which permits considerable movement out of axial alinement, comprises a sleeve b secured on one pipe end, india-rubber washers d, i enveloping the enlarged end of the other pipe e, screwed external nut f, and a rigid washer h for making the joint tight. A fair amount of clearance between the pipe e and washer h allows of free movement without breaking the joint. Specifications No. 25,826, A.D. 1902, and No. 7209, A.D. 1903, are referred to.
