Abstract
17,984. Griffith, P. G. Aug. 18. Liquids, sterilizing. -Pathogenic organisms are destroyed in water or other liquids by heating to a temperature of 65‹-85‹ C. for a period not exceeding t w e n t y-five seconds. The water passes by a pipe alpha and branches a' i n t o a chamber B, where it passes through bent copper pipes or between bent copper plates b to a head pipe b<2>, and thence to a chamber C where it is heated by a coil of steam pipes c or similar means. It returns through a pipe C and along the outside of the plates or pipes b, thus warming the incoming water.
