Abstract

3657. Le Tall, F. W., [Cooper-Hewitt Electric Co.]. Feb. 13. Vacuum tubes.-Gas or vapour lamps, in which one electrode is of disintegrating material such as mercury, and in which a mixture of gases is used, are so constructed that one part of the container affords a path for the current, while another part is not in the direct path. The two parts are maintained at different temperatures. The Figure shows one form of the apparatus, in which the part 4 through which the current passes may be cooled by a water jacket.
