A partial ring a provided with grooves d terminating in holes c is sprung on to the neck below the enlargement b. The bail e is retained by a half hoop of wire f, which passes through the holes g<1> and can be sprung into the position shown by means of the grooves d. The wire f may be made with a bight in the middle. This is closed together when the wire is in place, as shown by the dotted lines. A collar may be formed on the neck of the bottle below the band a, in order to retain it in place vertically. The ring a may be omitted if suitable grooves and holes, similar to d and c respectively, be formed on the bottle neck. If the bottle neck tapers, the ring a can be made narrower than shown.
