Vapour burners.- Concentric steam, air, and oil nozzles a, b, care arrrnged so that the air and oil are supplied in thin films which can be readily heated, and sprayed or finely atomized by the superheated steam from the nozzle a. The nozzles are preferably mounted upon a plate f, which is cast with channels i, h, g for the steam, air, and oil respectively, and with a rim or flange u to form a starting cup. The oil and water supply pipes l, m are kneed and screw-threaded at their lower ends, and the central jointed support v, x may be adjusted by means of the screw bolt w. The water from the pipe m is heated by the flame while traversing the pipes n, o, q, and is subsequently superheated in the pipes r, s, t before it passes by the pipe i to the nozzle a, j is a blow-off or drain passage provided with a pet cock k. In a modification, the channelled plate f is dispensed with, the adjustable support v x is replaced by a tube, by which steam is supplied direct to the nozzle a, and the nozzles are protected by a shield. Compressed air instead of steam may be supplied to the nozzle a, and the air and oil supplies may be heated.
