Abstract

6703. Fudikar, G., Preute, J., and Br³ntjen, G. March 19. Hoods; perambulators and like vehicles; carriages. -Relates to the hinged stays of hoods for perambulators and children's, dolls', and other carriages, one form being shown in Figs. 1 and 2, The upper stay d is formed from one strip of sheet metal, which is held in the tubular shape either by its engaging edges or by rivets f, and the lower tubular stay a is formed preferably from two sheet-metal strips, similarly secured together. The bosses t of the upper stay lie between the bosses s of the lower stay, and are secured to a toothed piece k, which engages with a spring- pressed pawl m lying within the lower stay. The teeth are so shaped as to allow the upper stay to be turned about the pivot-pin r into any position, and held there by the engagement of the pawl with the teeth, but, in a modified form the teeth are dispensed with, the piece being then employed to increase the stability of the hinge. In the modification shown in Fig. 7, the teeth of the piece k are so shaped so as to prevent relative motion of the stays until the pawl u has been pressed back from engagement with the teeth, this operation being performed by means of a projecting pin v movable in a slot in the lower stay.
