Abstract

3878. Simkiss, J. Feb. 23. Motor cycles. - Consists in the application of a double - gripping friction clutch to motor bicycles for disconnecting the engine, thereby allowing the engine to be started without driving the machine, and also allowing the engine to be thrown out of gear so that the machine can be run without driving the engine. On the driving-shaft A two friction discs C, D are mounted so as to rotate with the shaft while they can be pressed towards each other by the spring G so as to grip the driving V-grooved belt pulley B which is mounted between them on a ball bearing. The sliding disc D can be separated slightly from the disc C when desired, the pulley B being thereby released, by means of the hand-lever J.
