2654. Joseph, E. L. Feb. 6. Switches.-The contact-arm is spring-controlled, and is adapted, in breaking the circuit, to move independently of the handle as soon as the latter has started the movement. The contact-arm F is pivoted at E, and is slotted for the passage of the handle H, which is pivoted at I. The U-shaped contact C is adjustably fixed to the arm F by a nut and wedge-shaped washer M, and engages with the fixed contacts B. The quick-break is given by a spring R and pin P, the head Q of which acts upon the wedge-shaped end N of the arm F.
