Abstract
2625. Jones, E. Feb. 6. Shaft couplings.-Consists of a coupling particularly applicable for repairing a broken propeller shaft &c. The sleeve a, formed with concentric ribs d, wider at the centre than at the ends, and divided into segments along the centres of the ribs, is clamped upon the parts to be coupled by means of rings b, b<1>, adapted to fit over the sleeve and likewise divided along the centres of the ribs, which are drawn together by means of bolts and nuts. To prevent longitudinal displacement, the segments of the sleeve are formed with interengaging projections and recesses g. The inner surface of the sleeve may be grooved to bite into the shaft. In a modification, one ring only is employed.
