Abstract

Systems for continuous-current motors only; electric braking.-Motor control systems for lifts, haulage gear and the like, are arranged to reduce the speed of the motor, preparatory to stopping the lift &c. at any desired point, by momentari y disconnecting the motor from the supply, then reconnecting it in the reverse direction, and finally disconnecting it again. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, this is effected by a tappetoperated switch D adapted to change connection from a forward switch magnet E to a reverse switch magnet F with a momentary intervening break of circuit, in conjunction with a starting relay 3 controlled by a push-button G and subject to a retarded return. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, each forward and reverse switch magnet is connected to two separated contacts 3, 3<1>, so as to produce a momentary break of circuit followed by a remake in the same direction, after which, if the movement of the lift continues, the change-over is made as before. In other modifications, the movement of the tappet switch applies a brake and introduces resistance into the motor circuit.
