Abstract

Stationary batch-mixers with reciprocating or oscillating stirrers.-Relates to agitators for horizontal tar-boilers and the like, and consists in a readily detachable device not involving the passage of a shaft through the walls of the boiler. The agitator blades f are connected by radial arms g to a shaft e which is supported horizontally within the boiler by stirrups a, Fig. 4. suspended by flanges c from the end walls d of the boiler. The shaft e has toothed quadrants h at its end, with which are geared quadrants k on a. second shaft which is mounted in bearings above the boiler, for example on the stirrups a. Handles for working are provided on the shaft j.
