Pistons; pistons, reducing wear of. - The piston of an internalcombustion engine is made of magnesium or magnesium alloy, and is fitted with a steel or iron band 2 shrunk or screwed on. In the arrangement shown, the band is also secured by rivets 3 and is formed with packing-ring grooves. The band 2 limits the expansion of the piston body.
