Abstract

Ovens ; baffles.-Cooking-apparatus for use with gas and electric stoves comprises a substantially cylindrical body 1 with a cover 2 in which the food-containing vessels are placed, being supported on a non-conductung baffle which in the form shown in Fig. 1 comprises .a hollow metal body 7 filled with insulating- material and having ribs 10 on the upper surface to reduce the area of contact with the cooking-vessel. For use with gas or like stoves, the bottom of the body 1 is of truncated conical form, Fig. 1, having openings 5 for the hot gases and a central recess 3, in which is a layer of insulating material 8 beneath the baffle 7. The escape of the gases is controlled by a series of hit-and-miss openings 11, 12 in the flange of the lid 2 and the body 1. In a modification, the baffle is hollow and pierced for the passage of air, hollow air-tight chambers being provided beneath it. Fig. 3 shows a form for use on electric stoves, having a flat bottom on which rests an apertured flange 35 supporting the hollow baffle 34, which is pierced with holes 40. The baffle may be filled with insulating material.
