Abstract
185,141. Mellor, W. H., and Mellor, L. Feb. 26, 1921. Cheese cutters.-A machine fur cutting definite weights of cheese from a round comprises a rotary table 5 on which the cheese is held by means of pivoted knife-like blades 22 which are projected through apertures in the table by the operation of a central sliding sleeve 25 by a lever 26. The knife 32 is pivoted on a bracket 29 and a projection 35 on the knife frame is adapted to engage a lever 34 and thus actuate an extension of the blade 22 which mav be under the knife so as to press this blade 22 out of engagement with the cheese before cutting commences. The table is rotated through change gearing or direct through a a pinion 9 and rack 8, the pinion being operated in one direction only by a ratchet or clutch from the lever 13 which cam be oscillated between stops to regulate the movement of the table and thus the amount of cheese cut. Two of the engaging blades 22 may be placed in close proximity to one another so that the last portion of cheese is held firmly during cutting. The rotation of the table mav be effected from the movement of the knife. The table may also be provided with a number of concentric circles whereby the cheese may be centred. To prevent the table from tilting it is supported by adjustable posts 37.
