Abstract

183,872. Gass, W. G. Jan. 31, 1921. Thrust bearings comprising blocks a seated spherically in carrying rings d which are themselves spherically mounted. The blocks are provided with tapped holes g by which they can be secured to the ring d by screws during machining operations. The Figure shows the application to a suspension bearing in which the ring d is non- rotatably mouted in a stationary housing, but in a modification it is mounted spherically in the collar j to rotate therewith, the blocks being retained in the ring when the bearing is dismantled by means of screws fitted in the holes and supported loosely in holes r in the ring. Applications of the invention to a footstep and a doublethrust bearing are described.
