Gaseous-fuel furnaces. -Relates to regenerative coke ovens of the kind described in Specification 155,316, with vertical heating-flues of triangular shape in two independent series between adjacent ovens. There is a common gas supply for all the ovens, but the supply of gas to the two series of flues on the two sides of each oven can be controlled independently of the supply to the flues of adjacent ovens. Gas is supplied from a common main 10 on one side of the battery through cocks 11 to pairs of conduits 7 serving each oven, cocks 13 also being provided for independent regulation of the heating. The cocks 11 may be connected by a wire 12. The gas passes from the conduit 7 through nozzles 9 and passages 8 by the heating-flues 2, where it meets air from the ducts 4, leading from the regenerators 3, which are in communication with the atmosphere through pipes 15, fitted with air-valves 16. The conduits- 7 are stopped at the centre-line of the battery, as shown in Fig. 4, and the products of combustion ascend half the flues 2., pass along the horizontal flues 5 and descend the remaining flues 2 to the regenerators 3, and reach the chimney flue 14 through the pipes 15. The usual reversing dampers are fitted between the chimney flues 14 and the chimney.
