179,520. Vivarttas, W. O. May 4, 1921, [Convention date]. Dust caps for tyre valves. -A dust cap is secured in position by a flexible sleeve pressed into contact with the valve casing by the relative rotation of the cap and a member screwed thereto and shaped to engage the flats on the valve stem. The sleeve 15 is housed between flanged abutments 14, 19 provided with non-circular holes 18, 22 adapted to engage the flats on the valve casing so that as the cap is rotated the screw connection between the cap and the lower abutment causes it to move upward and distort the sleeve so that it contacts with the valve casing and with the cap. The lower abutment may be riveted to a ring adapted to screw m the cap. The lower ridge of the cap is rolled over to retain the internal parts in position.
