Abstract

179,024. Mitchell, L. J. March 10, 1921. Blocks acting on drums; compensating for wear.-The shoes b of a drum brake are adjusted to compensate for wear by the winged head d<1> of a stud d lying between the ends of the shoes and screwing into a boss e<1> on the fixed plate c. The stud can be turned to effect the adjustment by a key engaging the squared end d<2>, and is locked by a nut f with or without the aid of a washer interposed between the nut and the boss e<1>. The blocks are actuated to engage the drum by the cam c.
