Abstract

Cylinders, varying clearance of.-Engines having a floating piston c in the cylinder head for adjusting the compression are provided with a device for locking the piston c at the instant of the explosion. The device comprises a wedge f which is thrust between a block c on the piston rod d and the guide for the block e on the cylinder cover. The wedge may be actuated mechanically through a resilient lever h as- 'for instance by the main piston b impinging on a rod v and acting through the lever y and link m, or a piston on the rod v and acted upon by the pressure of the cylinder may be connected to the wedgeby a simple lever.
