Cylinder machines; cooling-apparatus; heating-apparatus; delivery; feeding materials; cleaning apparatus; moulding soap. - Relates to the apparatus described in Specification 164,339 and consists in the provision of a series of cover-plates adapted to travel with and to close the ends of the moulds to protect the soap therein from direct contact with the cooling-liquid. The cylindrical series of moulds on the drum 10 are filled with soap from the hopper 16 which is provided with jacket extensions 70, 71 to maintain the soap fuid. On passing the extension 71 the moulds are closed by cover-plates 78 connected together by pins 81 passing through bearings 79, 80, Fig. 7, to form an endless chain embracing the drum 10 as in Fig. 1. Rollers 83 on the ends of the pins 81 engage recesses 86 in guide-pulleys 84 and also recesses 89 in the drum to align the covers with the moulds; cam rails 87, Fig. 3, press the covers tightly into contact with the moulds. The coverplates are cleaned by a spray 101 and brush 98. As the moulds pass away from the hopper 16, the soap is first cooled by sprays through pipes 94, Fig, 1, on to the cover-plates and through pipes 105 on to the interior of the moulds. In a modification, the cover-plates 106, Fig. 11, are each formed with a notched block adapted to embrace and be pinned to a supporting-bar, the bars being connected together by sprocket-chains.
