Abstract

Animal traps. - A trap of the type having a cranked striker frame c is set automatically when the striker frame c is turned through about 90‹, and the crank e passes a dead-centre; the spring d that operate the striker frame when released also retains it in the set position. In setting the trap, the crank e depresses the rear end of the tread-plate f, causing it to rock on projections h and to take up the raised position. The sensitiveness of the trap is varied by causing the end n of the spring d to engage any one of the notches m on the bait-holder l, or the holder may be adjusted by the engagement of the notches with a hole in the base a. The edge g<1> of the upturned end of the plate f is serrated to deter the animal from approaching the trap from the rear.
