Abstract

Regulation, automatic systems and apparatus for.-An alternating-current circuit 1 is inductively regulated by two transformers 5, 6 having magnetizable cores 7, 12 carrying direct current windings 13, 14. The transformer 5 acts to oppose the voltage of the circuit, while the transformer 6 acts to assist it, their effects being balanced so long as the windings 13, 14 affect their respective cores equally. These windings are connected in series across an independent directcurrent circuit 15, 16 fed by a generator 17, and the balance is disturbed bv the running of an auxiliary motor-generator 23 in shunt with the winding 14 and having its excitation subject to a vibratory contact device 31 automatically responsive to changes in the voltage of the circuit 1. The effect is that a fall of voltage leads to a temporary preponderance of the transformer 6, and a rise of voltage to preponderance of the transformer 5, resulting in each case in restoration of normal voltage.
