Abstract

168,420. White, A. E., (American Smelting & Refining Co.). June 3, 1920. Discharging devices for endlesschain conveyers; chains with spikes for engaging articles.-Lead bars or ingots of trapezoidal cross-section are conveyed from a moulding machine to a stacking apparatus by an endless chain conveyer 11 the links of which have spikes 16 to engage the bars. A short conveyer 18 removes the bars from the conveyer 11 and brings them together in sets of five below a hoisting apparatus. The bars are positioned by a stop 41 and as the movement of the conveyer would tend to cause buckling of the bars, additional stops 46 pivoted in vertically movable plates 42 are provided. Each stop is maintained in position in front of a bar by the preceding bar.
