166,267. Marks, E. C. R., (Koehler Manufacturing Co.). Oct. 1, 1919. Cells; gas exits.-A storage cell is closed by a cover consisting of two bevelled plates 9, 10 adapted to clamp between their edges a rubber gasket 8 having a V-shaped inner periphery as shown in Fig. 2. The plates are drawn together by screws 12. The gasket is provided, with openings 18 through which the connectors to the electrodes pass, the openings and connectors being of elongated shape to prevent leakage when the gasket is compressed. The lower plate 10 is formed with a gas exit comprising a tube 20 having lateral openings 29 and divided by a partition 24. Tubes 30, 31 having lateral openings lead from the lower to the upper compartment of the tube 20 and from the upper compartment to the atmosphere. Fig. 7 shows a modified form of cover in which the plates 68, 69 which compress the gasket 67 are drawn together by bolts and nuts 70, 72, and the electrode conductors 74 pass through the bolts 70.
