Abstract

Compression-spoke wheels; spokes, securing.- Tubular metal spokes c formed in cross-section of shape of an oblong with circular ends are arranged so that the largest dimension is in a direction parallel to the axis of the wheel. The spokes at their inner ends are seated on a ring a with internal flanges a<1> and machined with separate seatings a‹. The shape of the seatings corresponds to the shape of the spokes, one side being adapted to permit the ring to be slid laterally into position after the spokes are assembled in the rim. Side plates f with peripheral flanges f<1> embracing the spokes are riveted to the ring a at h and to each other at h<1>. The wheel is secured by bolts k to a flange i carried by the axle. The outer ends of the spokes are secured to the rim b by cupshaped members d fitting in the spoke ends and riveted to the rim with the interposition of washers b<1>.
