Abstract
160,139. Soc. Anon. Moto Garelli. March 11, 1920. Spring devices.- In a spring fork for motor - cycles &c., the blades 1 are connected to the steering-stem. by two pairs of angle-levers 2, 3, the free arms 7, 6 of the upper and lower levers on each side being connected by one or more helical springs 10 in such a manner that normally the arms are kept turned one towards the other in the line joining the pivotal connections 4, 5 of the levers to the stem. As shown, the arms are connected by single springs, the links and the springs occupying positions outside the fork blades. The links and springs may, however, be arranged between the fork blades, and a pair of parallel springs may be used on each side. The construction is such that for small or medium loads or shocks the displacement of the fork is greater than if it were at all times proportional to the extension of the spring.
