Sliding-jaw wrenches; wrench handles.-In an adjustable double-ended wrench of the kind in which nut engaging apertures are provided in a plate to which are secured side plates enclosing the adjusting mechanism, the side plates a are extended to conform to the shape of the intermediate plate b and the apertures d, d<1> extend through the three superposed plates. The movable jaw members e, e<1>, which slide in slots b<1>, b<2> in the plate b, have side flanges e<2>, e<3> which extend laterally into the apertures in the side plates. The jaws e, e<1> are operated by a screw f and nut f<1> and the side plates have bulging parts a<1> and openings a<2> to accommodate the screw and nut. The screw f may be connected to the jaws e, e<1> by means of circular ends f<2>, f<3> engaging recesses in the jaws or may have forked ends embracing the jaws and riveted thereto, and the screw may consist of a flat bar with screw threads on two longitudinal edges.
