Animal traps.-The animal enters the trap by passing up a wooden incline 17 and through an opening 16, stepping on to a platform 19 pivoted to the casing of the trap at its front end 20. As the animal moves along the platform to the baitreceptacle 21, the platform tilts about its pivot depressing the rear end of a centrally pivoted plate 23, and causing the front end of this plate to rise, thus closing the opening 16 by a door 22 supported on the fore end of the plate 23. The animal then passes from the plate 19 into the main entrance chamber 10 and thence up the vertical runway 25 provided with a non-return flap 26, the plate 19 swinging back to its original position with the door open immediately the animal leaves it. From the runway 25 the animal proceeds to the exit chamber 12 which is provided with a swing- ing flap 27 situated above a removable victim receptacle 13. The end of the chamber 12 is provided with openings 28 to admit light. Bait may be placed in the chamber 18 below the incline 17 and on prongs 24 on the platform 19. The trap may be anchored by wires passing through holes 29 formed in the metal sides of the trap.
