Sept. 12, 1919 Copy-holders.-Relates to copy-holders of the type having a hinged front-plate formed with an aperture for disclosing a part of the copy which is carried between guide-rollers and a yielding feed-roller, the width of the aperture being varied by means of an adjustable shutter. The copy. holder comprises a frame 1, Fig. 4, braced by transverse rods 2, 3, 4, and having a hinged faceplate 5, Fig. 1, containing an aperture 50, the size of which is regulated by a slide shutter 7. The shutter is operated by racks and pinions 9, 10 and a finger-disk 12. A pointer 51 is arranged to slide in a slot 13. The copy C is pressed against guide. rollers 16 mounted on the face-plate by a feed. roller 18 having at one end a finger-disk 19. The spindle 21 of the feed-roller slides in guides in the frame 1, and is pressed forwards by spring- pressed arms 24 pivoted on the rod 4. A guideshield 29 pivoted on the rod 3 supports the lower part of the copy, the upper part being supported by a guide 32 preferably secured to the arms 24. The holder can be tilted vertically about the bar 4 which is rotatably mounted in a bracket 33 pivoted to one member 36, Fig. 2, of a jointed arm, the other member 38 of which is pivoted to a verti cally adjustable bracket 40. The bracket 40 pro jects from a standard 41 which is vertically ad justable in a pedestal 42 by means of a screw 44 and bayonet-slots. The bracket 40 may slide in the standard, or may be adjustable on a wall, &c. The pedestal may be formed to fit one corner of a typewriter frame, to which it may be secured by screws.
