Abstract
154,543. Damblanc, L. Nov. 26, 1919, [Convention date]. Void Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Epicyclic gearing. An epicyclic train is used to drive an element to which an angular displacement has to be imparted while running, such as the cam shaft of an internal-combustion engine. The displacement may be continuous and controllable. A driving-shaft 1, Fig. 1, is connected through a bevel-wheel 3 on an arm 4 to a central loose gear 5, and further through a gear 8 on a fixed arm 10 to a driven shaft 12. Displacement of the arm 4 about the axis of the shaft 12 causes a relative angular displacement of the shaft 12. In the spur-gear arrangement shown in Fig. 3, the speed of the carrier 27 of planet-gears 31 is controlled by means of worm gearing 28, 29 applied to the train arm. The gears 31 mesh with a gear 33 secured to a driven shaft 34 and with a double internal ring 25, which is connected through fixed idlers 22 to a gear 21 fast on a driving-shaft 20.
